Introducing ESG to Blockchain? ... Korea's First Blockchain ESG Session to be Held at 'BWB 2022'

Introducing ESG to Blockchain? ... Korea's First Blockchain ESG Session to be Held at 'BWB 2022' Promotional poster for ‘Blockchain Week in Busan (BWB) 2022’.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] ESG is being introduced in the blockchain industry sector as well.

At the ‘Blockchain Week in Busan (BWB) 2022’ conference, held for three days from the 27th to the 29th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Haeundae-gu, Busan, a new ‘Blockchain ESG’ session will be established and conducted.

The Blockchain ESG session is the first of its kind among related domestic events.

The session will take place on the first day of the event, the 27th, from 3:30 PM for 90 minutes at the ‘Future Stage’ inside BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1, and a communication platform for blockchain experts to discuss will also be provided.

The discussion will be chaired by Professor Park Won-woo of Seoul National University, with speakers including Kwon Byung-hyun, CEO of Mirae Forest, Professor Yoo Byung-joon of Seoul National University, Professor Kwon Hyuk-jun of Soonchunhyang University, and Associate Professor Lee Jong-seop of Seoul National University.

Kwon, who serves as the Land Ambassador for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), will explain the seriousness of global desertification and introduce the tree-planting project being promoted by Mirae Forest.

Professor Yoo will introduce blockchain technologies that can simultaneously solve currency and environmental issues and propose them as new alternatives.

Professor Kwon will discuss the importance of preparing for future finance in relation to the token economy, which is still regulated in Korea due to unclear entities and accountability.

He will also deliver lectures on methodologies for applying token economy business and effective token management.

Associate Professor Lee will speak about decentralized blockchain technology enabling Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO), its key advantages, token incentives, and the importance of DAO governance.

BWB 2022 is held under a new name this year to revitalize the K-blockchain industry ecosystem, following the great response to ‘NFT BUSAN 2021’ last year.

The event features various programs including conferences with domestic and international speakers such as Binance, FTX, and Huobi, special exhibitions by artists, NFT galleries and auctions, company meetups, and K-POP concerts.

During the event, an MOU signing is also scheduled between DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center), the largest commodity trade free zone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Busan City.

Those who pre-register can enter BWB 2022 free of charge during the event period, while on-site registration requires an admission fee of 15,000 KRW per day.

For registration and more details, please refer to the BWB 2022 website or contact the BWB 2022 Secretariat.
