Support for Stable Coastal Settlement of Young Fishers in Early Startup Stage
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that it is promoting the ‘2023 Youth Fishing Village Settlement Support Project’ to help young fishers in the early stages of start-up settle stably in fishing villages and to attract excellent young talent to fishing villages.
If selected as a beneficiary of the ‘Youth Fishing Village Settlement Support Project,’ individuals will receive monthly support of 900,000 to 1,100,000 KRW per person for up to three years (1,100,000 KRW in the first year, 1,000,000 KRW in the second year, and 900,000 KRW in the third year).
The support funds can be used for fishery management expenses and household funds for fishing households but cannot be used for socially inappropriate purposes such as entertainment, luxury goods, purchase of alcohol and tobacco, or excessive consumption beyond the scope of general household funds.
The eligibility criteria are ▲ young fishers aged 18 or older and under 40 as of 2023 with less than three years of fishing experience (born between January 1, 1983, and December 31, 2005) ▲ actual residents of Boseong-gun (including resident registration) ▲ those who have completed military service or are exempted ▲ those without credit restriction information (such as delinquency records) from financial institutions.
The application period is from October 14, 2022, to November 11, 2022 (29 days), and those wishing to participate can submit the application form and related required documents at the Marine Fisheries Division of the county office or the town and township offices.
Boseong-gun plans to select five project beneficiaries in December after a selection review in November (first document screening, second interview).
A county official said, “This year, the project support fund has increased by 100,000 KRW compared to last year, which will help reduce the burden of fishery management expenses and household funds for young fishers,” encouraging many young fishers to show interest and apply for the project.
