According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, at the time of the accident, there was 1 driver in the truck, and 3 adults including teachers and 12 children in the van.
As a result of the accident, a man in his 70s driving the daycare center van died, and the remaining 15 people, including children, sustained injuries such as fractures and occipital injuries from the impact.
Police alcohol tests revealed that the truck driver was not driving under the influence.
