[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee will report Kim Kyung-hoon, President of Google Korea, to the prosecution for perjury during the national audit.
On the evening of the 24th, before resuming the audit, the committee held a full meeting and approved the report of President Kim by consensus between the ruling and opposition parties.
President Kim previously appeared as a witness at the comprehensive audit of the Broadcasting and Communications Committee on the 21st.
At that time, President Kim gave ambiguous answers such as "I will check" and "I do not know well" regarding Google Korea's policies and major business status, including his position on network usage fees, domestic YouTube subscribers, and the scale of sales in Korea, drawing criticism from lawmakers of both parties.
The Act on Testimony and Inspection in the National Assembly (National Assembly Testimony and Inspection Act) stipulates that a witness who makes false statements during the audit shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one year and not more than ten years.
