[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] On the 22nd, Jeonbuk Gochang-gun successfully concluded the ‘17th Gochang World Culture Harmony Festival’ at the special stage of Moyangseong.
According to the county on the 24th, about 1,500 people participated in the event, including County Governor Shim Deokseop, Gochang County Council Chairman Im Jeongho and members of the Gochang County Council, National Assembly member Yoon Junbyung, heads of local institutions and social organizations, multicultural families, and residents.
The event featured various attractions and meaningful content such as experience booths of world cultures from six countries, the Korean Language Golden Bell contest, an exhibition of award-winning works from the Respect for Diverse Cultures poster contest, performances by Nepalese foreign workers, traditional Vietnamese dance, and a Japanese band performance, creating a space for harmony and communication between Gochang residents and multicultural families.
In recognition of meritorious service, Kim Juhyun (Gochang-eup), Park Raeho (Heungdeok-myeon), and Seo Jeongsun (Sangha-myeon) received commendations from the Gochang County Governor for their pioneering roles in multicultural projects over many years. Kim Eunhye, a marriage immigrant from Thailand (Gochang-eup), received a commendation from the Chairman of the Gochang County Council, and Choi Hyangja, an interpreter and translator at the Gochang County Family Center (Gochang-eup), was honored with a commendation from the corporation’s CEO.
After the ceremony, the ‘Challenge! Korean Language Golden Bell’ was held, providing an opportunity for 35 marriage immigrants and foreign workers to showcase their Korean language skills they had honed over time.
Center Director Daewon Sunim expressed, “I hope that in the future, without distinctions of you and me, country or race, everyone will become one and enjoy a society full of laughter and joy.”
County Governor Shim Deokseop said, “The county is currently providing various support for the stable settlement of multicultural families, including Korean language education for marriage immigrants through the Gochang County Family Center and comprehensive development support for multicultural children. We promise to continue our support for multicultural families in the future.”
