Support for 'Bartending for a Better Future' Education for Students Aged 19 and Over
Aiming to Establish a 'Sustainable Bar Culture and Responsible Drinking Culture' Practicable Across Domestic Industries
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Pernod Ricard Korea announced on the 24th that it has signed a business agreement with Dongseo University in Busan to expand the specialized education program "Bartending for a Better Future," which educates hospitality management students aged 19 and older on sustainability.
Since January this year, Pernod Ricard Korea has been operating the "Bar World of Tomorrow" education program to establish a sustainable bar culture and promote responsible drinking culture throughout the domestic liquor industry. This program, aimed at bartenders and bar owners aged 19 and older, introduces Pernod Ricard's sustainable and responsible management activities and their cases, and is a specialized education program that encourages participants to consider how to practice sustainable bartending for people and the environment and share ideas. So far, 177 bar and restaurant workers in Korea have completed the program.
Through this business agreement, Pernod Ricard Korea expects to expand the program, which was previously conducted only in Seoul and other metropolitan areas, to Busan, and to broaden the concept and practice of sustainability across not only the bar industry but the entire hospitality industry. The education will be held this December at Dongseo University Centum Campus, helping to expand the concept and related knowledge of sustainability, which is fundamental to building an eco-friendly bar culture, and will provide detailed information on the importance and methods of practicing "responsible drinking."
Ryu Hwajoo, Executive Director of Pernod Ricard Korea, said, "I am pleased to have the opportunity again this year to talk with university students aged 19 and older about eco-friendly bar culture and responsible drinking culture," adding, "We will continue to expand the specialized program steadily beyond one-time education and do our best to establish an eco-friendly system throughout the industry."
