[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Recently appointed as the Standing Advisor of the People Power Party, Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, made a pointed remark targeting former President Moon Jae-in, asking, "What was contained in the USB that President Moon handed over to Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party, during the Panmunjom inter-Korean summit?"

On the 24th, through his social network service (SNS), Mayor Hong said, "They casually dismissed it by saying that the USB contained North Korea's economic development plan at the time, but I once warned that 'depending on the contents of the USB, it could constitute treason,'" making this statement.

This remark has drawn attention as significant, coming amid the rapid progress of the West Sea shooting investigation and the successive arrests of personnel from the Moon Jae-in administration's North Korea policy line by the prosecution.

Regarding the contents of the USB, he said, "There were rumors that a massive Bitcoin wallet was handed over to unblock North Korea's economic strangulation due to sanctions, and now it is time to clarify what relationship this has with the recent cryptocurrency rumors involving Park Won-soon (former Seoul Mayor) and others trading with the North," adding, "Since DJ (Kim Dae-jung), North Korea has demanded money at every inter-Korean summit, and during MB's (Lee Myung-bak) administration, there was even an incident where MB gave up on an inter-Korean summit because of these demands."

The cryptocurrency rumors related to the late Park Won-soon, former Seoul Mayor, were also highlighted by Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, during a National Assembly audit, attracting public attention. At that time, Representative Kim revealed that emails exchanged between a developer who created technology to transfer cryptocurrency overseas to evade North Korean sanctions and a Korean business contact mentioned then-Seongnam Mayor Lee Jae-myung and former Mayor Park.
