Sinan-gun Hosts Autumn Concert at Island Village Life School

A Chorus of Comfort and Hope Resonates on 1004 Island Dochodo

[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the evening of the 20th (Thursday) at 7 p.m., the 1st Island Village Life School Autumn Concert was held on Dochodo Island under the theme of "The Story of Sea Flowers."

At the concert, a united choir of local residents, choruses by elementary, middle, and high school students, and an orchestra performance filled the air with a hymn of comfort and hope shared by all.

This autumn concert was staged with a choir and performances expressing respect and reverence for the efforts of the local community, as the region where solar salt was first produced in South Korea after liberation, under the theme "The Story of Sea Flowers."

The performances began with students from Bigeumdong Elementary School, followed by a combined choir of three elementary schools. Dochogo High School students performed "The Story of Sea Flowers," which they wrote and composed themselves, and Bigeum Middle School presented a performance of "Ganggangsullae," a local traditional cultural heritage.

In particular, the "Island Village Choir," composed of 30 residents from Dochodo and Bigeum areas, prepared a variety of choral pieces on stage, bringing a warm breeze to the 1004 Islands of Dochodo.

Additionally, the Island Village Life School, which opened on April 2, 2019, on Dochodo Island, has been expanding local resident participation with various program developments and rich content to present a life school model for adults and to realize ideals such as healing and life planning on the island.

Park Woo-ryang, Sinan County Governor, said, "I hope the music provided comfort and hope to the students and local residents who overcame the difficult times of the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis that plunged the world into despair. We will continue to develop various programs and content to make it a life school where healing and life planning can be realized on the island."
