Geumcheon-gu CCTV Monitoring Officer Leads to Arrest of Stalking Threat Suspect

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) announced that the U Integrated Operation Center monitoring staff contributed to the arrest of a stalking and threat suspect through prompt CCTV monitoring.

At around 10:03 PM on the 19th of last month, the Geumcheon-gu U Integrated Operation Center received information from the police that the suspect, an ex-boyfriend, was moving by vehicle while threatening to kill the victim and their family.

The monitoring staff quickly checked the CCTV around the victim's residence and reported to the police that the suspect had gotten out of the vehicle and was running toward the victim's residence, playing a decisive role in the suspect's arrest.

This is significant as it helped prevent secondary damage (serious incidents) to victims who are living in fear due to stalking crimes such as assault and threats.

The Geumcheon Police Station (Chief Gwak Changyong) awarded a commendation from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to the monitoring staff who contributed to the suspect's arrest through prompt monitoring on October 20th, encouraging their efforts.

Yuseonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Geumcheon-gu operates 2,631 multipurpose CCTV cameras for crime prevention in 778 locations including high-crime areas, school surroundings, and parks. Going forward, the U Integrated Operation Center will continue to protect residents safely from crimes as well as disasters such as fires through real-time monitoring.”
