The 2nd Forest Technicians' Day to Be Held in Damyang on November 2-3

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The '2022 2nd Forest Technicians Day' event will be held for two days from November 2 to 3 at the Damyang Sports Complex.


According to the Korea Forest Technicians Association on the 20th, this event was prepared to inspire pride and confidence among about 40,000 forest technicians nationwide and to present a vision and seek direction for development into a sustainable future industry.


The event is hosted by the Korea Forest Technicians Association, organized by the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch, and supported by the Korea Forest Service, Jeonnam Province, and Damyang County.


Under the slogan "Imagine in the Forest, Realize in the Forest," the event will proceed with a pre-event, Forest Technicians Day and vision proclamation ceremony, forest technology demonstrations, and special lectures.


On the first day, November 2, the pre-event will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the Forest Technicians Night until 7:30 p.m.


On the main day, November 3, the program starts with a pre-performance at 10:30 a.m., followed by the opening declaration, reading of the Forest Technicians' Rights Charter, vision proclamation, introduction of key guests, welcome speeches, encouragement speeches, congratulatory speeches, awards for outstanding forest technicians, and forest technology demonstrations.


In the afternoon, special lectures are scheduled. Director Song Gun-ho will give a lecture on "Building a Metaverse Using Forest Information," and instructor Jang Yoon-yeon will lecture on the topic of the "Serious Accident Punishment Act."


Attendees are expected to include Nam Sung-hyun, head of the Korea Forest Service; Kim Young-rok, governor of Jeonnam Province; Kang Ki-jung, mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; National Assembly members Lee Gae-ho, Seo Sam-seok, and Shin Jeong-hoon; Lee Byung-no, mayor of Damyang County; as well as politicians and honorary presidents Heo Jong-chun and Jeong Gyu-won of the Korea Forest Technicians Association; Jeon Jin-pyo, president of the Korea Forestry Association; Lee Kyung-jun, president of the Korea Forest Policy Research Association; Lee Sung-kwon, executive director of economic affairs at the National Forestry Cooperative Federation; Choi Mu-yeol, president of the Korea Forestry Federation; Lee Jae-ho, president of the Korea Complex Management Association; Heo Tae-jo, president of the Korea Forest Protection Association; Lee Yong-sik, president of Jeonnam Forestry Association; and Lee Hong-gil, president of the Korea Landscape Association.


Jung Byung-cheon, president of the Korea Forest Technicians Association, said, "As social issues such as climate change response and large-scale forest fires emerge, new paradigms such as the Korean-style forest New Deal are being proposed, raising expectations and demands. To adapt to rapid changes, advanced technology is necessary, and the role of forest technicians is becoming more important than ever."
