Held from October 28 to November 13
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The '2022 Hapcheon Records Culture Festival,' where visitors can directly see, learn, and experience record culture, will be held at the Daejanggyeong Theme Park in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, from the 28th to November 13.
Held for the first time in three years since 2019, this festival is organized under the theme "The Wind of Goryeo, Embracing a Millennium" to promote the value of the Daejanggyeong and utilize cultural heritage content based on it. Various programs such as traditional courtyard plays, weekend performances, exhibitions, experience booths, and side events are planned to welcome tourists.
On the opening day, the 28th, the opening ceremony will be held from 2 p.m. at the outdoor performance hall of the Daejanggyeong Theme Park. The ceremony will feature performances by the Hapcheon Children's Pungmul Troupe, the historical play "Yadanbeopseok, Daejangdogam" about the Goryeo Daejanggyeong, and a fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) performance titled "Aknyeo."
The festival’s representative program, "Yadanbeopseok Daejangdogam," is a courtyard play that entertainingly and easily explains the manufacturing process of the Daejanggyeong. It is a situational play depicting the story of a novice woodblock carver who repeatedly makes mistakes on the first day, causing chaos, while Monk Sugi strives to complete the Daejanggyeong woodblocks before anyone else realizes.
Every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m., permanent performances featuring Taekwondo, Bongsan Talchum (mask dance), acoustic bands, and traditional fusion gugak will be held, offering shows that appeal to various generations.
Various experience events for children are also prepared. The "RPG Experience, Let’s go Daejanggyeong," where participants can role-play the process of making the Daejanggyeong woodblocks, is available three times daily through advance reservation.
At the "Meeting Daejanggyeong through Art" experience booth, visitors can enjoy diverse activities such as making soap containing Daejanggyeong motifs, creating accessories, making carry postcards, crafting Daejanggyeong mood lamps, and assembling three-dimensional puzzles of the Janggyeongpanjeon (Tripitaka Koreana storage hall). Additionally, on weekends, side events including food trucks, magic shows, and cotton candy art will be operated.
Furthermore, award-winning works from the Palmandaejanggyeong National Art Exhibition will be displayed from the 22nd to the 30th at the Millennium Hall and Records Culture Hall of the Daejanggyeong Theme Park. From the 25th, a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition will also be held inside the Millennium Hall during the festival period.
County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, "As this festival is held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, we have prepared diverse programs including performances, exhibitions, experiences, and side events that reflect the uniqueness of the Daejanggyeong Theme Park for visitors to enjoy together. We hope everyone has a joyful and meaningful time at the 2022 Hapcheon Records Culture Festival, full of sights and activities."
