[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The National Pukyong National University Museum and the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group will hold a series of public lectures for citizens under the theme "Haeyeokmanri (海域萬里): People Who Dreamed of Life Beyond the Sea" starting November 5.
This public lecture series is offered free of charge to the general public, including university students, office workers, and housewives, and will be held 15 times every Saturday at 3 p.m. from November 5 to February 18 of next year in the audiovisual room of the Pukyong National University Museum.
At the first lecture, participants can also experience the free event "Making Traditional Notebooks," where they can make notebooks to be used during the lectures.
The lectures will introduce the image of humans crossing the sea for various purposes from the Neolithic era to modern times, presented by experts in the fields of the sea and history, organized by era.
Pukyong National University plans to explore human activities that navigated the sea in this lecture series, following the citizen lecture "The History of Humans Engraved on the Sea" held from December last year to February this year.
Director Lee Geun-woo of the museum said, "Through this public lecture prepared by the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) project, we hope to widely inform the public about human activities beyond the sea and their historical background, which are not well known, and to provide an opportunity to reexamine maritime culture."
The number of participants is limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis to comply with quarantine guidelines. Applications and inquiries about the lectures can be made to the Pukyong National University Museum.
