[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The 'Jumun Yeondo Bridge,' connecting Jumundo and Achado in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, will be constructed by 2026.

Incheon City announced on the 19th that it plans to build the Jumun Yeondo Bridge, 550 meters long and with two lanes, with a total budget of 30 billion KRW from this year until 2026.

This project passed the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Local Finance Central Investment Review in June and will begin detailed design by the end of this year.

Initially, a preliminary feasibility study was launched in 2018 for the Seodoyeondo Bridge construction project, but it stalled due to lack of economic viability. At the end of last year, the city decided to proceed with the bridge construction by dividing the project into two phases.

The first phase, the Jumun Yeondo Bridge connecting Jumundo and Achado, will be funded by local government funds, while the Bolum Yeondo Bridge connecting Achado and Boleumdo will be promoted with national funds (44 billion KRW).

An Incheon City official stated, "We plan to continuously consult with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to secure the national funds necessary for the construction of the Bolum Yeondo Bridge."
