"A Fresh Motivation for Youth Entrepreneurship and Poverty Alleviation"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The LINC 3.0 Project Group and the Startup Support Group at Gyeongsang National University conducted a 'Global Entrepreneurship Education' session for young leaders from Madagascar on the 18th.
Madagascar is one of the world's poorest countries, with about 80% of its population relying on agriculture. The country is six times the size of South Korea and is known as a treasure trove of ecological diversity. It is an island nation in East Africa familiar to us through baobab trees and lemurs.
Six young leaders from Madagascar visited South Korea for six weeks through an invited training program at the Sancheong Alternative Technology Center in Gyeongnam. They learned natural farming technologies such as community development strategies, appropriate technology (water resource development and sewage treatment), permaculture, insect pest control, and understanding medicinal herbs, and broadened their perspectives through visits to related institutions and real-life case studies.
Gyeongsang National University imparted know-how and strategies for entrepreneurship to those dreaming of youth startups.
A Gyeongsang National University official said, "As expectations for entrepreneurship are high, this workshop is expected to provide fresh motivation for youth entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation in Madagascar."
Professor Park Sang-hyuk of the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship said, "Through this education, I hope young people from Madagascar will have a good opportunity to revitalize the local economy. We will cooperate more closely in the future."
