Daejeon City Hosts 'Science Festival' with Space and Aviation Themes

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will hold a Science Festival themed around space and aviation.

On the 19th, the city announced that the "2022 Daejeon Science Festival" will be held from the 20th to the 23rd of this month at the Daejeon Convention Center Exhibition Hall 2, Expo Science Park, Daedeok Innopolis, and the original downtown area.

The festival commemorates the successful launch of the Nuriho rocket and will feature a space and aviation-themed exhibition hall, as well as special exhibition halls where visitors can explore Daejeon's strategic industries such as robotics, defense industry, nano-semiconductors, and bio.

At the venue, special content unique to Daejeon will be available, including future technology exhibition experiences, research achievements exhibitions and experiences from Daedeok Innopolis research institutes, tours of Daedeok Innopolis, Daejeon Science Tours, and Renew Science Tours.

Additionally, programs such as the Daejeon Gifted Festival, Daejeon Math Festival, scientist lectures combined with busking in the artistic X-STEM program, Science Escape Room (Basic Science Experience Exhibition), and Science Drone Coding Festa will be offered, allowing youth to engage in scientific experience programs.

As side events, the city will also hold ▲ Future Ship Idea Contest (Ship and Ocean Research Institute) ▲ 2022 Future Talent Roadshow (National Science and Technology Human Resources Development Institute) ▲ Standard Science Concert with Gwedo (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science) ▲ Science Harmony Walking Festival with Daedeok Innopolis (Daedeok Net), among others.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon said, "I hope the festival will provide an opportunity for youth to nurture their dreams of becoming future scientists and for entire families to enjoy science culture," adding, "The city will develop the festival into the nation's top global science festival."
