[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] A heartwarming friendship between senior and junior colleagues who were in charge of semiconductor line setup at Samsung Electronics for eight years is becoming a hot topic. The protagonists of the story are Kim Hanbok and Ok Dohun from Samsung Electronics Memory PCS Group.

According to Samsung Electronics on the 19th, Kim and Ok joined the company in 2003 and 2012, respectively. The two began building their relationship in 2014 at the setup site of Line 17 on Samsung Electronics' Hwaseong campus. Line setup involves arranging appropriate equipment for each process to support semiconductor production according to the planned schedule. This task requires cooperation with various departments such as the semiconductor's eight major process technology teams, infrastructure, and electrical facilities.

Since they started their first setup on Line 17, the two faced significant challenges in their work. Because multiple departments participated, collaboration and communication were essential. Ok said that working with senior Kim helped him adapt quickly to the unfamiliar tasks and perform his duties well.

Ok stated, "Hanbok-nim’s efforts to engage in many conversations with the person in charge to accurately understand their needs were a great example. Beyond a strictly professional relationship, his approach to connect with related department personnel on a human level was reassuring and admirable." According to Ok, Kim is his role model.

Starting with Line 17, the two have carried out setup work across various semiconductor lines and have now moved to the Pyeongtaek campus. They continue to work together at Pyeongtaek, sharing warm encouragement and advice.

Kim said, "I feel proud to see my junior grow so much and work as a senior to someone else here in Pyeongtaek. I have many memories of being moved by my juniors, and I want to say that Dohun will also have moments to be moved by his juniors."

Samsung Electronics is running the 'Memories Contain Love' campaign, introducing such stories on the company’s intranet (Samsung Electronics NOW) and external channels like YouTube and Instagram. This campaign was planned to capture stories of employees and their families, friends, and lovers who have shared the timeline of Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor history.

This story is the fifth installment in the campaign. Previously introduced stories include ▲Episode 1 (the story of a father and daughter who started their company life at the same place) ▲Episode 2 (the story of paramedic friends working on the same campus)Episode 3 (the story of a father and son working in memory development across generations)Episode 4 (the story of six classmates celebrating the 10th anniversary of graduating from Samsung Electronics Technical University). The total views for the first four episodes reached about 260,000.

Samsung Electronics explained that the campaign has received great responses from employees. Many have expressed being touched by each story. Actual posts include comments such as “Thank you for the heartwarming story, and I wish you always have good things,” and “I support you to continue relying on each other and lead Samsung Semiconductor.”
