Apple Unveils Apple TV 4K with 'A15 Bionic Chip'... Price Around 210,000 Won

Samsung-led Video Standard Technology 'HDR 10+' Also Supported

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Apple has unveiled the next-generation 'Apple TV 4K' equipped with the 'A15 Bionic' chip.

On the 19th, Apple announced that the next-generation Apple TV 4K will be officially released on November 4 in more than 30 countries and regions including the United States. The domestic release date has not been disclosed, and the price starts from 219,000 KRW.

The core of the new Apple TV 4K is the A15 Bionic chipset, which offers a 50% improved central processing unit (CPU) speed and up to 30% enhanced graphics processing unit (GPU) performance. The company explained that this provides faster navigation speeds and user interface (UI) animations, as well as improved gaming performance.

The new Apple TV 4K supports 'HDR 10+' following 'Dolby Vision.' HDR 10+ is a video standard technology led by Samsung Electronics that optimizes brightness and contrast for each scene considering display performance.

The new Apple TV 4K will be released in two models. The Apple TV 4K Wi-Fi model offers 64GB of storage capacity. The Apple TV 4K Wi-Fi + Ethernet model supports gigabit Ethernet, the Thread mesh networking protocol, and provides 128GB of storage capacity.

The new Apple TV 4K supports Apple content such as Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness Plus, and through 'tvOS 16' to be released this fall, users can use new voice assistant features of 'Siri.' Siri can distinguish and recognize user voices and recommend content based on preferences.

Apple TV 4K also serves as a 'home hub.' It connects and controls smart home accessories such as cameras, lighting, and motorized curtains linked with 'HomeKit.' In particular, Apple explained that Apple TV 4K will be an essential component for the new smart home interoperability standard called 'Matter.'
