[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The Changnyeong County Livestock Cooperative in Gyeongnam is expected to have a significant effect on the actual income increase of Hanwoo farmers by conducting 'self-artificial insemination training,' which reduces Hanwoo insemination costs and has a higher insemination rate.

The Changnyeong Livestock Cooperative recently announced on the 18th that it conducted artificial insemination technical training for Hanwoo farmers to promote cost reduction and income increase through self-artificial insemination by Hanwoo farmers at the Changnyeong Livestock Cooperative livestock market.

The training was held with about 20 Hanwoo farmer members attending, where Park Seongjae, head of the So-Breeding Management Academy, showed the actual reproductive organs of Hanwoo to the members and explained the insemination process in detail. The training combined artificial insemination theory and practice, receiving great responses from participating farmers.

Cooperative member Kim said, "Insemination through an inseminator sometimes failed due to mismatched estrus timing. When the owner inseminates directly, attempts can be made even in the middle of the night, resulting in a much higher insemination rate." He added, "Moreover, saving the 50,000 to 80,000 KRW cost per insemination achieves a twofold effect."

For a Hanwoo farm with 100 heads, it means saving from 5 million to 8 million KRW just on insemination costs.

Chairman Yoon Taehan said, "We expect that the member training conducted during these very difficult times, with rising raw material prices due to the recent economic recession, will greatly contribute to cost reduction and income improvement for Hanwoo breeding farms." He added, "This is evaluated as a step forward in the cooperative management policy pursuing member income improvement, and we will continue to actively lead efforts to improve the income of livestock farmers."
