'Global Cybersecurity Cooperation Network' Event Returns After 3 Years

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced on the 18th that the 7th 'Global Cybersecurity Cooperation Network (CAMP)' event will be held over two days from the 18th to 19th at COEX.

CAMP is an international consultative body launched in 2016, led by Korea, with 35 organizations from 29 countries coming together to share experiences and trends in cybersecurity development, promote mutual growth, and contribute to enhancing global cybersecurity capabilities. Currently, 63 organizations from 48 countries participate.

This year's CAMP event is being held for the first time in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is linked with the private event 'International Security Conference (ISEC)', where the latest solutions, products, and technologies of domestic companies can be seen in one place. The event includes CAMP regional forums, cybersecurity capacity-building programs, exhibition booths, a global showcase, and one-on-one business consultations.

On the 18th, the regional forum will feature member organizations representing each continent presenting the latest cyber trends and issues in their regions. Along with sharing Korea's recent achievements in building AI training datasets for cybersecurity, cooperation plans to enhance cybersecurity response systems, including utilization methods by member countries, will also be discussed.

KISA, the Korea Information Security Industry Association, and Indonesia's National Cyber and Crypto Polytechnic (NCCP) will discuss cooperation plans linking the overseas expansion of domestic security companies with the training of security personnel and developers in developing countries. The Global Cybersecurity Capacity Centre (GCCD) education program will be promoted, and presentations by global non-profit organizations and World Bank officials will introduce qualification systems for security personnel training and cybersecurity capacity-building projects in developing countries.

On the 19th, the CAMP global showcase will introduce domestic non-face-to-face service security models such as remote classes and remote work to CAMP member organizations. Identity verification security services applicable to mobile passports and digital medical certificates for foreign residents will also be promoted. Seventeen information security companies that applied in advance will hold one-on-one business consultations with buyers from CAMP member countries.

Minister Jongho Lee of the Ministry of Science and ICT stated in a video message, “International cooperation is paramount to effectively respond to cyber threats that cross borders,” adding, “South Korea, which rose to 4th place in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) announced last year by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will contribute to enhancing global cybersecurity capabilities by sharing successful experiences and promoting cooperation with overseas organizations and companies.”
