Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Meets Czech Deputy Foreign Minister for Expo Sales... Requests Support for 2030 Busan World Expo


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the morning of the 17th, Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, met with Martin Dvo??k, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, at the International Protocol Office of Busan City Hall to discuss exchange and cooperation measures between Busan and the Czech Republic and requested support for the bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.


Mayor Park first expressed his gratitude to Deputy Minister Martin Dvo??k for visiting Busan, saying, “With the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Busan this June, we expect to expand economic cooperation and cultural exchange between Busan and the Czech Republic.”


The Czech Republic and South Korea established diplomatic relations in 1990 and have actively continued exchanges and cooperation in various fields since establishing a “strategic partnership” in 2015.


Deputy Minister Martin Dvo??k said, “Thank you for the warm hospitality,” adding, “This is my first visit to Busan, and I find Busan’s green technology, clean environment, advanced technology, and culture very impressive.”


Deputy Minister Dvo??k added, “The cooperative relationship between Korea and the Czech Republic is very good, and I believe there is great potential for future cooperation,” and “I hope that Busan and the Czech Republic will enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as nuclear power, renewable energy industries, and digital new technologies.”


Mayor Park highlighted Busan’s strengths, saying, “Busan is a logistics hub city ranked 7th in the world based on container throughput and has a smart port applying new technologies,” and “We plan to use digital new technologies in representative projects currently being promoted by Busan, such as smart cities and maritime cities.”


The mayor responded, “Busan is focusing its capabilities on hosting the ‘2030 Busan World Expo,’ themed ‘The Great Transformation of the World, Voyage Toward a Better Future,’” and “I was pleased to hear that Deputy Minister Dvo??k requested to visit Bukhang, the planned site for the 2030 Busan World Expo, and I deeply appreciate your great interest in the 2030 Busan World Expo.”


He added, “‘The 2030 Busan World Expo’ will showcase future new technologies such as artificial intelligence, 6G, smart airports, and ports, which will demonstrate the values and vision that humanity should collectively pursue,” and “I hope you will support Busan’s determination and widely promote it to other cities and countries.”


After the meeting with Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Deputy Minister Dvo??k visited the Bukhang area, the planned site for the 2030 Busan World Expo, and the Bukhang Promotion Center.
