T'way Air to Launch Incheon~Sydney Route in December: "First Domestic LCC"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] T'way Air announced on the 17th that it will launch a new route between Incheon and Sydney starting December 23.

T'way Air became the first low-cost carrier (LCC) to acquire traffic rights for the Incheon-Sydney route, which had been operated only by two major domestic full-service carriers (FSC) as of February 2020. Additionally, in the first half of this year, it introduced three large aircraft of the A330-300 model with 347 seats. Following the launch of the Incheon-Singapore route in May, it has now pioneered the Incheon-Sydney route.

Expanding seat supply, T'way Air plans to offer essential services at reasonable fares compared to before, thereby broadening the choices for business travelers, expatriates, international students, and the increasing number of tourists traveling between Korea and Australia, while enhancing travel convenience.

The A330 aircraft deployed on the Sydney route will operate with 335 economy class seats featuring legroom comparable to major airlines and 12 business saver class seats with premium flatbed seats.

On this route, two meals will be provided free of charge in business saver class and one meal in economy class. Economy passengers can also make advance reservations for additional meal orders. Furthermore, even when purchasing discounted promotional fares, checked baggage up to 23kg is free of charge; for smart or regular fares, 30kg is allowed, and business saver class passengers are allowed up to 40kg.

The flight schedule departs Incheon Airport at 10:20 PM local time every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, arriving in Sydney at 10:45 AM the next day. The return flights depart Sydney Airport at 12:15 PM every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, arriving at Incheon Airport at 9:05 PM.

In August, T'way Air opened a Sydney branch office locally and is making thorough preparations for a successful route settlement and passenger convenience by focusing on safety systems, transportation, sales, and partnerships in both Korea and Australia.

By the end of this month, T'way Air will begin selling tickets for the Sydney route through its official website and mobile app/web, and to commemorate the new route launch, it plans to offer various promotions including exceptional special fares, fuel surcharge discounts, and payment discounts. A T'way Air official stated, “Based on safe operations, we will expand passengers' choices and enhance convenience for those traveling between Korea and Australia through reasonable fares and services. Building on the successful launch of the Sydney route, we aim to establish a long-haul network to Europe and the Americas in the future to secure differentiated competitiveness.”
