[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, is reported to have met with senior executives of Samsung Electronics.
According to industry sources on the 15th (local time), Zuckerberg visited Samsung Research America in Silicon Valley, California, two days ago. At the meeting, Zuckerberg met with Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and head of Samsung Electronics' DX (Device Experience) division, and Roh Tae-moon, President and head of the MX (Mobile Experience) business unit. According to the industry, Vice Chairman Han and President Roh were visiting the U.S. to attend Samsung Electronics' annual developer conference (SDC) held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on the 12th.
It is not known exactly what was discussed. However, it is reported that Zuckerberg requested comprehensive cooperation on VR (virtual reality) devices. Meta held 'Meta Connect 2022' on the 11th, a day before Samsung SDC, unveiling the next-generation VR headset 'Meta Quest Pro.'
Last October, Zuckerberg renamed the company from Facebook to Meta and announced an investment of $10 billion annually (approximately 14.425 trillion KRW), identifying the 'metaverse' as the company's future growth engine.
