‘Eunpyeong Welfare Hotline’ Counseling in Progress

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is operating a one-stop welfare consultation desk called the ‘Eunpyeong Welfare Hotline.’

In order to prevent tragic incidents involving vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots, such as the recent death of a mother and child in Changsin-dong and the death of three mothers and daughters in Suwon, a dedicated consultation desk has been established.

The ‘Eunpyeong Welfare Hotline’ (phone number available on the Eunpyeong-gu website) is an integrated welfare consultation desk that is easily accessible and provides one-stop service from consultation to support to protect households in crisis located in welfare blind spots. Through unified integrated consultations, it aims to discover households in crisis, improve access to welfare services, and establish an easy consultation and rapid support system to prevent similar incidents.

Three welfare consultation specialists are assigned daily. Operating hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. For nights and holidays, the 120 Dasan Call Center is used, which is linked to the welfare hotline.

Users can contact the dedicated number directly or call the 120 Dasan Call Center and select option 3 for emergency welfare, etc. After conducting an initial welfare service consultation for households in crisis needing help, they are connected to the local community center within one hour. The community center provides services such as Seoul-type emergency welfare and comprehensive customized welfare service guidance. It is a one-stop system from consultation to support decision.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We have established a one-stop system so that any household in crisis needing help can easily request assistance and receive prompt support,” adding, “We hope it will serve as a reliable welfare safety net for Eunpyeong.”

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) is working to create public restrooms that are safe from illegal filming and clean for everyone regardless of age or gender.

On the 18th at 7 a.m., the district will conduct a joint inspection involving civilian, government, and police personnel at the ‘Yeongagyo Public Restroom’ and ‘Hong Eun 2 Public Restroom’ located along the Hongjecheon Stream.

They will check for the installation of illegal filming cameras using radio wave detectors and lens detectors and inspect whether emergency bells are functioning properly.

Additionally, through a campaign, they will inform residents that illegal filming and distribution are serious crimes.

The district is accelerating improvements to public restrooms by replacing or newly installing unmanned automatic restrooms with separate facilities for men and women, and installing infant protection chairs and diaper changing tables.

Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, “We will continue to strive to create safe public restrooms that can be used comfortably and safely from crime.”

On the day, about 100 participants including residents, members of professional organizations, and environmental officers will clean fallen leaves and trash along the roadside and green areas from Sacheon Bridge to Hongyeon 2 Bridge along Hongjecheon Stream.

Furthermore, the district will carry out cleaning operations on main roads in Hong Eun 2-dong and Namgajwa 1 and 2-dong areas using water trucks, dust suction vehicles, and road cleaning vehicles.

Mayor Lee Seong-heon of Seodaemun-gu will also participate in roadside cleaning. Previously, the mayor took part in cleaning activities with residents in Sinchon-dong and Hongje 1-dong on the 7th and 21st of last month, and on the 4th of this month, and plans to conduct about 10 cleaning site visits by the end of this year.
