PGA Website Reports Possible Appearance of Woods at PNC Championship
Last Year, Joint Runner-up with Charlie... Also Considering Participation in Hero World Challenge
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods (USA) is expected to make a joint appearance this year with his son Charlie.
The PGA Tour website recently forecasted the remaining schedule in an article titled "Will Woods compete again this year?" The tournaments Woods could participate in are the Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship in December. The PNC Championship, held over two days from December 17 in Orlando, Florida, is an event where players team up with family members in pairs. Woods and Charlie finished as runners-up last year.
Nota Vege, a college friend of Woods, appeared on an internet broadcast and predicted, "Woods will participate in the PNC Championship." Especially since the PNC Championship is not a regular tournament, cart transportation is allowed, which poses little burden on Woods, who injured his leg in a car accident last February.
The Hero World Challenge held in early December in the Bahamas is also a tournament Woods might consider entering. Hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, the Hero World Challenge is a premium event featuring 20 top-ranked players worldwide. Vege explained, "The Hero World Challenge may also allow the use of carts," adding, "In fact, Woods's golf swing metrics, such as clubhead speed, are generally good, but walking 72 holes during a tournament is the issue."
After finishing The Open in July, Woods said, "I don't have plans for the next tournament yet," and added, "It might be next year, but I hope to play in at least one tournament this year." Woods shared videos of his swings on social media at events like the Junior Invitational hosted by his foundation. Golf Channel commentator Brandel Chamblee praised him, saying, "His shoulder rotation and left leg movement during the swing don't look like those of someone who suffered a serious car accident last year."
