According to major foreign media, President Putin said at a press conference during the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, that "he has not yet decided whether to attend the upcoming G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia next month."
Regarding the large-scale missile strikes on Ukraine, he said, "Russia's goal is not to destroy Ukraine," adding, "Further large-scale missile attacks are currently unnecessary." On the possibility of peace negotiations, he mentioned, "Russia is open to dialogue."
In particular, when asked if he regrets the invasion of Ukraine, Putin firmly said, "No." He emphasized, "Although the current situation is unfortunate, we are doing the right thing."
Regarding the recent nuclear crisis concerns raised by the West, he reiterated, "Any direct clash between NATO forces and Russian forces would cause a global catastrophe." He also added, "I believe anyone mentioning such a possibility is wise enough not to actually take such measures."
Regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to Germany, which has not been operational due to Western sanctions, he drew a line by saying, "It is not under our jurisdiction." He mentioned that prioritizing relations with NATO was a mistake for Germany and that the German people will have to pay the price for it.
