Group Order Function Cart Sharing
#. Office worker Kim Kwanghyun (pseudonym), who was about to order chicken through the Baedal Minjok (Baemin) app, hesitated for a moment. Although he had chosen the menu, a feature called 'Hamkkejumun' (Together Order), which he had never seen before, caught his eye. With delivery fees rising, demand for group purchases through local communities like Danggeun Market is surging?did Baemin actually introduce this feature?
However, Kim's guess was only half correct. This feature allows multiple people to order together and receive delivery at once, but it is different from group purchases with strangers. We looked into the exact function and planning intent of 'Hamkkejumun' that appeared on Baemin.
According to Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, 'Hamkkejumun' has been applied to the Baemin app since the 4th of this month. As the name suggests, the core is that customers can share their shopping carts to order together. When placing a group order, users can share their carts to add menus together with several members, and a representative customer can make the payment.
Previously, when placing group orders, menus were collected separately. In workplace group orders, this role was usually taken by the youngest member of the department. They would carry a memo and ask seniors, "What coffee would you like?" and write down each order. This was how orders were placed through delivery apps.
Using 'Hamkkejumun' eliminates this hassle. You just create a cart link, share it with other orderers, and wait. Each person adds their desired menu items to the cart and then payment is made. However, you cannot ask to order from different stores. For example, if everyone agrees to eat hamburgers but suddenly someone demands jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), that would be problematic. Baemin made 'Hamkkejumun' available for both Baemin1 (single delivery) and regular delivery, but it can only be used for orders from one store.
Since each person selects their desired menu and receives delivery once at a single address, it can effectively reduce delivery fees if used well. A Baemin representative said, "We introduced this feature to provide a more convenient user experience for customers placing group orders on the Baemin app," adding, "We will continue to enhance the app’s features by considering user needs to expand positive customer experiences."
