Namhae County Office Boxing Team's Kim Dohyun Wins Gold Medal at National Sports Festival Boxer Kim Do-hyun from the Namhae County Office in Gyeongnam won a gold medal representing Gyeongnam at the National Sports Festival.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Kim Do-hyun, a boxer from the Namhae County Office boxing team in Gyeongnam, achieved a remarkable feat by winning the gold medal as the Gyeongnam representative in the men's super heavyweight (+91kg) category at the 103rd National Sports Festival in 2022.

The 103rd National Sports Festival was held over a week from the 7th to the 13th in Ulsan City. Kim competed in the boxing event held at Ulsan Deoksin Elementary School gymnasium and secured a victory by opponent retirement against Ji Baek-ryong of the Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council, once again demonstrating his reputation as the nation's strongest.

Kim is scheduled to participate in the Asian Championships held in Amman, Jordan on the 31st, and he is dedicating himself to training with the goal of winning, building on his current momentum.

Founded in January 2005, the Namhae County Office boxing team has consistently achieved excellent results in various domestic competitions under the devoted guidance of coach Kim Bong-cheol, earning recognition for its skills that rival any city or county team.

Known for his meticulous self-management, Kim joined the Namhae County Office boxing team in 2012. Now 38 years old, he displays overwhelming skill that belies his age and has held the position of national representative in the super heavyweight (+91kg) category for an impressive 10 years since June 2013.

Kim Bong-cheol, coach of the Namhae County Office boxing team, said, “Since the first time I met Do-hyun, he has maintained the confidence that ‘he can beat anyone’ and has devoted himself to training without concern for holidays.”

Jang Chung-nam, the county governor, said, “It is already a great achievement that a Namhae County athlete competed as the Gyeongnam representative, and winning the championship is even more prideful. We will actively support him to achieve good results without injury in the upcoming Asian Championships.”
