Participants are competing in the tournament by playing smart table games such as bullet blocking, matching identical pictures, and assembling puzzle pieces.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held the ‘2022 Seocho Smart Senior Competition,’ where seniors compete in IT knowledge and skills, on the 13th at the 2nd-floor auditorium of the district office.
This event, held face-to-face for the first time in three years since COVID-19, was organized to encourage seniors' interest in IT technology and to reduce the digital divide for those who have difficulty using it. It takes place from the 13th to the 14th.
The first event introduced the ‘Smart Table - King of Touch.’ The smart table is a device mainly used in welfare centers for memory and problem-solving training to extend healthy life expectancy. It is popular among seniors because it is easy and fun to use in a board game format. The game categories included Bullet Blocking, Finding the Same Picture, and Puzzle Matching. Additionally, AR sports systems and smart muscle strengthening systems (Smart Walking, Swing Fit Dancing) experience devices were set up in the lobby in front of the event hall, allowing seniors to try them out.
On the 14th, a ‘Live Quiz Show’ in the format of TV programs ‘1 vs 100’ and ‘Scholarship Quiz’ will be held with 120 seniors participating. Also, a ‘Latest IT Trend Experience Booth’ where participants can try augmented reality (AR) photo kiosks and smartphone usage will be operated.
Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I am pleased to provide a place where ‘Smart Seniors’ can showcase their skills through this event,” adding, “We will also continue to make efforts for those who have low accessibility to IT technology and face difficulties in using it.”
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 13th that it will support free influenza vaccinations for community leaders under the age of 65 through its own program.
Especially this year, as an ‘Influenza Epidemic Warning’ has been issued, timely vaccination is necessary.
Accordingly, the district decided to support influenza vaccinations for community leaders under 65 years old.
As a result of pre-registration through the local resident centers by August 29, 228 people applied, and only those who applied can receive the vaccination.
The vaccination period is from the 12th of this month to December 10th, and applicants should bring their ID and visit designated medical institutions in the district after prior contact.
The vaccination institutions can be confirmed through the Dongjak-gu Office blog and other channels. For more details, contact the Administrative Affairs Division.
Previously, the district also announced free vaccinations for vulnerable groups in the area, including basic livelihood security recipients, medical aid beneficiaries, severely disabled persons, and national merit recipients. Eligible residents should bring ID and supporting documents and get vaccinated at one of the 110 medical institutions in the district by December 10th.
For national free vaccination targets, free vaccinations have started for children aged 6 months to under 13 years and pregnant women, and for seniors aged 65 and older, vaccinations are being administered sequentially by age starting from the 12th.
Dongjak-gu Mayor Park Il-ha said, “We will strive to improve residents’ health through the influenza vaccination support project,” and urged, “Please actively participate in the vaccination.”
