KOTRA Holds Indonesian Product Exhibition for SMEs... Accelerates 'Export Plus' to Support Market Expansion

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] KOTRA announced on the 13th that it will hold the 'O2O (Online-to-Offline) Korean Products Exhibition' in Surabaya, the center of East Java, Indonesia. The exhibition, held for four days starting from that day, is part of KOTRA's small and medium-sized enterprise market expansion support project 'Export Plus,' which supports the government's 'Export Competitiveness Enhancement Strategy.'

The event was held in collaboration with Busan City, Korea Tourism Organization, Indonesia's leading e-commerce platform iStyle, East Java's largest market chain Hokky, and prominent cosmetics distribution network L'VIORS to help promising Korean consumer goods companies pioneer the Indonesian consumer market. Indonesia's population reaches 270 million.

This is the largest Korean products exhibition ever held in East Java, the heart of the Chinese-Indonesian economy and home to a concentrated middle-class population. KOTRA Surabaya Trade Center opened a pop-up store at Tunjungan Plaza, East Java's largest shopping mall, in cooperation with local offline distribution networks. After the offline event ends on the 16th, an 'Online Korean Products Pavilion' will be operated on the online shopping mall iStyle until the end of the month.

A total of 38 promising domestic consumer goods companies, including domestic companies with no export experience and social economy enterprises that have never entered Indonesia, will participate in the event. KOTRA supports participating companies through various channels such as 1:1 online and offline business export consultations, pre-briefings on entry into online e-commerce distribution networks, and O2O marketing.

Actively utilizing the Korean Wave, which is experiencing a second heyday in Indonesia, various cultural events will be held together, including a K-POP singing and dance contest, a Taekwondo performance by the Surabaya Taekwondo School, and a fashion school workshop using products from participating companies.

Activities to attract the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’ will also continue. KOTRA plans to enhance the premium Korea image by setting up a Busan Expo promotional booth within the pop-up store to promote the global city of Busan and the Busan Expo bid to Indonesian associations, company officials, and visitors.

Kim Junsung, head of KOTRA Surabaya Trade Center, said, "The event will be a great opportunity for our companies to prepare and strategize market entry, including pricing, design, packaging, and future certification acquisition tailored to the Indonesian local market," adding, "KOTRA will take the lead in helping K-lifestyle companies enter Indonesia so that cultural Korean Wave can connect to economic Korean Wave."
