[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) has unveiled the catchphrase "A City Where You Want to Live, A Good Place to Live, Yangcheon," reflecting the vision of the 8th elected term and the core values of district administration to differentiate its urban branding.
The newly finalized catchphrase design visualizes Yangcheon's grand vision of leaping into an advanced future city in the form of buildings, expressing it in a modern and sophisticated manner. Bright colors were added to vividly embody a dynamic and vibrant city image with a three-dimensional effect.
The catchphrase "A City Where You Want to Live, A Good Place to Live, Yangcheon" embodies the commitment to realize a Yangcheon where anyone wants to live and always stay through ▲a clean and healthy city ▲a safe and warm city ▲a happy educational city.
This is also the goal of the 8th elected term district administration to leap into a new Yangcheon and serves as a solid pillar for the 19 key tasks and 100 detailed projects selected as the foundation for Yangcheon's next 50 years.
The district plans to apply the new catchphrase of the 8th elected term to official documents, the website, SNS, newsletters, and various promotional materials, gradually extending it to policies and local facilities. However, if excessive budget is involved or removal is difficult for engravings, fixed facilities, or exterior walls, it will be gradually maintained during future facility replacements.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, "I will create 'A City Where You Want to Live, A Good Place to Live, Yangcheon' through innovative administration on the ground so that being a resident of Yangcheon-gu itself becomes a source of pride and honor for all residents."
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] A resident jury panel to inspect and evaluate the 8th elected term pledge projects of Guro-gu Mayor Moon Heon-il has been formed.
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 12th that it appointed 35 members of the '8th Elected Term Pledge Implementation Evaluation Resident Jury' at Guro-gu Office and officially started activities.
The resident jury panel is a system where residents directly evaluate the implementation status of pledges made to residents during the 8th elected term and reflect diverse opinions in district administration.
The 35 resident jurors were selected through a random draw considering gender, age, and region to ensure fairness, targeting residents aged 19 or older living in Guro-gu.
Previously, the district confirmed 75 unit projects across 23 tasks in 6 major fields as pledge projects for the 8th elected term. The resident jury panel will evaluate the overall implementation plan of the confirmed pledges and propose alternatives through three meetings on October 12, October 26, and November 2.
A Guro-gu official said, "Pledges are promises to residents," adding, "We hope the resident jury panel, who experience local issues most closely, will objectively evaluate the 8th elected term pledge projects and play a significant role in ensuring residents' voices are fully reflected."
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) Daerim Library and Mullae Library were selected as excellent libraries in the '2022 National Library Operation Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award.
The 'National Library Operation Evaluation' is conducted to promote balanced growth and development of libraries by diagnosing and analyzing library sites, developing effective library policies, and discovering and spreading best practices in library operations.
This year, 2,727 libraries participated, including 1,169 public libraries nationwide, school libraries, military libraries, correctional facility libraries, and specialized libraries. Awardees were selected through a fair and rigorous process including quantitative and qualitative evaluations, on-site inspections, and final deliberations by the evaluation committee. The award ceremony was held on the 12th at the opening ceremony of the National Library Conference at Changwon Convention Center.
Daerim Library and Mullae Library, honored with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in this evaluation, have grown into complex cultural spaces offering diverse literary experiences since their opening in 2008 by ▲developing customized programs according to life cycles ▲promoting the 'Reading Yeongdeungpo' project ▲operating lectures and book curation reflecting local residents' demands and social interests.
Moreover, amid the COVID-19 situation, they quickly expanded non-face-to-face services such as e-books, audiobooks, e-magazines, and smart libraries to support continuous reading activities for residents. They also made efforts to provide uninterrupted services through 'visiting library projects' like Dream for children and Mom Book delivery loans for pregnant women.
In particular, Daerim Library was evaluated as an excellent case for its efforts to establish the library as a 'platform for citizens' daily life' by closely collaborating with various local resources through projects recording Yeongdeungpo's labor, art, technology, and neighborhood life, providing opportunities for citizens to discover and produce local issues and content themselves.
Additionally, Mullae Library received high evaluations for its efforts to make the library the center of local culture through the 'Mullae Stepping Stone Project' connecting local cultural resources and citizens, and for expanding opportunities to enjoy reading culture to those who find it difficult to use the library by cooperating with the Sign Language Center, Dementia Safety Center, and Senior Welfare Center.
A district official said, "This award is the result of joint efforts by the district office and all library staff to expand the public library infrastructure and activate resident-participatory programs to broaden the base of reading culture," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create libraries that change residents' lives."
