'2022 Park Kyung-ri Literary Award' Amin Maalouf, Meeting with Readers


[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Through the '2022 Dialogue with World Writers' hosted by Kyobo Book Centre, Daesan Cultural Foundation, and Kyobo Life Insurance, Lebanese-born French novelist Amin Maalouf will meet readers.


Amin Maalouf has written works reflecting on otherness based on Lebanon's suffering and historical experiences. His representative works include The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, Rock of Tanios, Ports of the East, and In the Name of Identity. From winning the Prix Goncourt in 1993 to being elected a member of the Acad?mie Fran?aise in 2011, and receiving the Park Kyung-ri Literature Award in Korea in 2022, he has carried out global activities beyond borders and cultural spheres.


Amin Maalouf will share his perspective on what literature can do in this rapidly changing era driven by technological and scientific advancements.


The event, themed 'Literature Still Important to Us,' will be held on the 17th at 3 p.m. at the Kyobo Convention Hall on the 23rd floor of the Kyobo Building in Gwanghwamun, both online and offline. The online event will be live-streamed on the Daesan Cultural Foundation's YouTube channel.


Participation applications are available on the Daesan Cultural Foundation website. Offline participation will be closed on a first-come, first-served basis, and online participants will receive the live stream URL via text message on the day of the event. The event will be hosted by Professor Jeong Gari of Yonsei University's Korean Literature Department and will be conducted with simultaneous interpretation in Korean and French.
