[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Juri] A venomous snake appeared in Seoul Hangang Park and attacked a pedestrian's pet dog.

According to a JTBC report on the 10th, a pet dog walking with its owner in Hangang Park was bitten by a venomous snake. The incident occurred right next to the walking trail.

According to the owner, Mr. A, the dog bitten by the venomous snake was breathing heavily and screamed when its leg was touched. The leg had turned black, and the snake's teeth marks were clearly visible. The dog's abdomen also turned purple.

Mr. A explained the situation at the time, saying, "(The dog) lowered its leg and collapsed. In panic, when I picked up (the dog), it was curling its leg."

This is not the first time snakes have appeared near the Hangang River.

On the 27th of last month, a pet dog walking in Mapo-gu Hangang Park was bitten by a venomous snake. Earlier, in 2014, a man was bitten by a venomous snake while walking in Hangang Park.

Autumn is a season when snakes increase their feeding activity in preparation for hibernation, making them more aggressive, so caution is required.

If attacked by a snake, walking or running can cause the venom to spread faster, so one should remain calm and take an ambulance to the hospital.

Especially for pet dogs that sniff while walking, there is a considerable possibility of being bitten on the face. In such cases, applying pressure incorrectly to the wound can be more dangerous, so it is necessary to contact the nearest animal hospital, explain the condition and symptoms, and inquire about treatment availability.

Even non-venomous snakes can cause swelling, bruising, or bleeding at the bite site. However, in the case of venomous snakes, these symptoms may be accompanied by abnormal drooling, vomiting, convulsions, and pupil dilation.
