[Seoul District News] Gwanak-gu to Host Healing Festival in Nature at Seonwoo Park Children's Forest Experience Center on the 15th, Accepting First 30 Families & Enjoy Colorful Autumn with Mom and Dad & Various Forest Activities and Nature Play with Family, Plus String Quartet and Gayageum Concert
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the ‘Early Childhood Family Forest Festival’ on the 15th at Seonwoo Park Early Childhood Forest Experience Center as part of the Seoul City Early Childhood Forest Festival ‘Sopnul’.
This event provides an opportunity for children who have mostly stayed indoors due to COVID-19 and parents exhausted from home childcare to heal together with their families in nature.
The ‘Early Childhood Forest Experience Center’ is a forest education facility equipped with forest experience facilities and shelters so that children can enjoy running and learning in the forest. It maximizes the use of existing natural resources and includes various forest experience and play facilities such as adventure playgrounds, insect hotels, and rock climbing walls.
At Seonwoo Park Early Childhood Forest Experience Center, various programs are conducted under six themes: ‘East, West, South, North, Star, Moon,’ allowing participants to feel the full autumn and rest and learn in the forest.
▲ ‘East’ offers ECO FEELING tactile and sensory experiences ▲ ‘West’ features traditional games such as tree tuho, spinning tops, and yutnori ▲ ‘South’ involves making crafts using natural materials ▲ ‘North’ provides physical play using ropes called STRING WALK ▲ ‘Star’ offers ecological exhibitions and explanations ▲ ‘Moon’ provides natural experiences through sensory functions. These six programs allow participants to experience the forest in diverse ways.
Additionally, as a side event, a small forest concert featuring string quartet and gayageum performances will be held to enrich the forest experience.
The program will be conducted by professional early childhood forest instructors, recruiting a total of 30 families, divided into two sessions of 15 families each: the first session from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second session from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
In particular, Seoul City is also running an Instagram review event to encourage many citizens to take interest and participate in the ‘Early Childhood Family Forest Festival.’ Participants can easily join by posting photos taken at the festival on their Instagram accounts with the required hashtags, and mobile coffee coupons will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for each festival date.
Families wishing to participate can apply through the Seoul Metropolitan Government Public Reservation Service website (Education & Lectures → Nature & Science → ‘Early Childhood Forest Experience Center’), and all programs are free of charge.
Gwanak-gu has the largest number of early childhood forest experience centers among Seoul’s autonomous districts, with seven locations including Seonwoo Park, Nakseongdae, Dang-gok, and Inheon-dong, providing children who have grown up in the city with limited access to forests a chance to heal in nature.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope young children can improve their health by experiencing various activities with nature and playing freely,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide residents with diverse forest experience opportunities and nature-friendly activities that capture the vivid nature of Gwanak.”
