According to the Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam, a man identified as A followed his girlfriend B, who had told him she wanted to break up in September, insisting on meeting her. He was warned by the police who responded to B’s report.

Despite the warning under the Stalking Crime Punishment Act, around midnight on the 20th, A climbed through the plumbing to break into B’s house, took her cellphone, and assaulted her.

The police applied for an arrest warrant for A on the 21st of last month on charges of violating the Stalking Crime Punishment Act, but it was dismissed by the court, which judged there was no risk of flight or evidence tampering.

A police official stated, “After the warrant was dismissed, A sent about 80 calls, texts, and SNS messenger messages to B demanding a settlement, and we have added these charges and reapplied for the arrest warrant.”
