National Gwangju Science Museum Hosts 2022 Gwangju Science Invention Festival

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the '2022 Gwangju Science Invention Festival' over two days on the 15th and 16th, in collaboration with Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Science Culture Association.


The festival, under the theme 'Fureka! Changing the Future,' will take place at the science museum's outdoor plaza, featuring six sections with 58 types of experiences including the Creative Invention Yard, Future Imagination Yard, Basic Science Yard, and Science Culture Yard, along with side events such as the Invention Talk Talk lectures.


At the Creative Invention Yard, visitors can enjoy STEAM convergence experiences and invention education such as 'Our Home Cat Guardian' and 'Fly Pegasus.' At the Future Imagination Yard, advanced science technologies like 'Expressing Artificial Intelligence with Your Body' and 'Coding Drones' can be experienced.


Additionally, the Basic Science Yard will have various booths such as 'Love Meter of Love' and 'Making a Spooky Haunted House,' allowing visitors to experience basic scientific principles and enjoy fascinating and diverse activities.


Various special lectures linked to the festival are also prepared.


These include the Invention Talk Talk lecture 'I Can Invent Too' on the 15th by inventor Kim Myung-chul, recipient of the Korea Invention Education Award; the Wednesday Sea Talk 'Why Arctic Climate Change Is Important to Us?' on the 15th by Professor Yoon Jin-ho of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology; and the Friday Science Touch lecture 'Robot Technology Treating Patients with Doctors - Surgical Robots' on the 16th by Professor Ko Sung-young of Chonnam National University.


Alongside the festival, the Gwangju Regional Food and Drug Safety Office's Strong Food Exploration Team (on the 15th), the International Youth Education Foundation's Pureumi Mobile Environmental Classroom, the National Gwangju Science Museum's Lucerium Star Car and Science School Vehicle, the 2050 Carbon Zero City Special Exhibition, and the 2022 Art Science Festival will also be held, offering visitors a wider variety of sights and experiences.


Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director, said, "This festival has prepared various outdoor experience booths and side events themed around invention and the future," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation so that children dreaming of becoming future scientists can gain ideas about invention and enjoy the event."


The festival experience programs will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and detailed information can be found on the National Gwangju Science Museum website.
