'International Mergers and Acquisitions' Information and Investment Policy Briefing for Embassies in Korea and Related Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Investment Agency is hosting an international mergers and acquisitions briefing session.
On the 11th, Seoul City announced that on the 12th, it will hold an international mergers and acquisitions (cross-border M&A) briefing session at Lotte Hotel Seoul. Through this briefing session, the Seoul Investment Agency plans to introduce international mergers and acquisitions to foreign embassies in Korea, foreign chambers of commerce in Korea, and related companies, while also using it as an opportunity to discover potential M&A demand.
While mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are actively conducted overseas as an exit strategy for venture investments, in Korea, initial public offerings (IPO) remain the most representative exit strategy for venture companies.
The Seoul Investment Agency will provide information on international mergers and acquisitions (cross-border M&A), which is directly related to foreign direct investment (FDI) among M&As, one of the major interests of domestic startups, and introduce various overseas investment attraction support projects and foreign investment policies of the Seoul Investment Agency.
In particular, to improve the vague perception that mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are difficult, the session will introduce ▲ Seoul investment attraction incentives ▲ trends and current status of international mergers and acquisitions ▲ points to note in domestic company M&As and international M&As.
In the Seoul Investment Agency presentation session, investment incentives provided by Seoul City will be introduced, and support projects of the Seoul Investment Agency, the dedicated organization for investment attraction in Seoul, will be guided. The second presentation session will share the latest trends in international mergers and acquisitions (cross-border M&A), acquisitions of domestic companies by foreign companies, and acquisitions of overseas companies by domestic companies, presented by Jeon Ju-young, Senior Data Expert at Bloomberg Korea.
The session will conclude with a presentation by Jaesung Park, Director at Samil PwC, an active expert in international mergers and acquisitions. He will explain the differences and precautions when conducting domestic company M&As and international M&As, share actual cases, and discuss ways to successfully conclude cross-border deals (international mergers and acquisitions).
Meanwhile, the Seoul Investment Agency, launched in February this year, is holding seminars on various topics to promote Seoul’s investment environment and support overseas investors and companies.
Goo Bon-hee, CEO of the Seoul Investment Agency, said, “For the ecosystem of early-stage and growth companies to be maintained healthily, an active atmosphere for investment exit is necessary. Through this briefing session aimed at shortening market entry time via mergers and acquisitions and improving recognition as a global growth engine, I hope various information will be accurately conveyed.”
