Fully Opened In-Person Festival After 3 Years 'Thrives' with Crowds Including Local Residents... District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung: "Enjoy the Festival and Wash Away the Fatigue from COVID"... Closing Ceremony Features Aiki, Song Dae-gwan, Kim Tae-woo, Ending with 'Drone Light Show'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that the ‘Pabalje·Eunpyeong Nuri Festival’ held at Bulgwangcheon was successfully concluded amid enthusiastic responses from local residents.
This autumn festival combined Eunpyeong’s representative festivals, ‘Pabalje’ and ‘Eunpyeong Nuri Festival,’ and was held from the 1st to the 8th. After a long hiatus due to COVID-19, tens of thousands of people, including local residents and families, gathered for the first face-to-face festival in a long time.
On the first day of the festival, the 1st, events such as the ‘Eunpyeong Residents Walking Contest,’ the ‘Resident Autonomy Association Harmony Festival’ showcasing programs from 16 neighborhoods, and the ‘Residents’ Day Commemoration Ceremony’ were held. Popular singers including Eunpyeong-gu ambassador Kim Yeon-ja, Kim Hyun-jung, Park Kang-sung, Park Nam-jung, and Jo Kwan-woo took the stage for a spectacular performance.
Event booths set up along the Bulgwangcheon walking trail offered various attractions such as exhibitions, promotions, and hands-on experiences. Visitors could enjoy unique Pabal games, caricature drawing, traditional crafts experience, and pastel painting.
The ‘Pabalje Opening Ceremony’ was held on the 2nd at the Gupabal Meeting Square. It featured various spectacles including street performances, traditional drumming ensembles, and a send-off ceremony. This was followed by the ‘World Culture Parade,’ showcasing traditional clothing and music from around the world. About 700 participants, including local residents and foreigners dressed in traditional costumes from 16 countries, marched along the Bulgwangcheon walking trail.
The ‘Integrated Festival Closing Ceremony’ took place on the 8th. The event featured a dance performance by Aiki, a world-renowned choreographer and Eunpyeong-gu ambassador, followed by impressive stages from stars such as Song Dae-gwan, Kim Tae-woo, The One, and La Poem.
The festival concluded with a ‘Drone Light Show.’ Three hundred drones displayed various images with lights, decorating the autumn night sky over Bulgwangcheon like a Milky Way.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We created a festival venue where everyone could gather and enjoy together at Bulgwangcheon, where the autumn atmosphere is deeply felt. I hope this was a time to fully enjoy the festival’s joy and also cleanse the weary hearts from COVID-19.”
