[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 8th, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the opening ceremony of the ‘2022 Nowon Mask Festival’ held on a 555m section in front of Sunbogeum Church at Lotte Department Store (Nowon Branch).

The opening ceremony, held from 8 PM on the 8th, featured a joint performance by a choir of about 200 residents and Kim Deok-su’s Samulnori, invited performances by singers Kim Ki-tae and Guckkasten, and a parade awards ceremony.

At 11 AM on the 9th, the ‘Madeul Mask Song Festival,’ where participants selected from village festivals in each neighborhood wear masks and compete, will take place. Singers Han Seo-kyung, Kim Yang, Mr. Pang, and Chae Eun-jung will appear as invited performers. From 6:30 PM, the festival will conclude with the parade awards ceremony, closing declaration, and a performance by Jaurim.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I hope this will be a time to relieve the thirst for festivals that we have endured so far and to enjoy Nowon as a cultural city.”

On the afternoon of the 8th, Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, visited the site of the ‘9th Yangcheon Book Festival,’ where books, art, and autumn harmonized perfectly, held at Yangcheon Park.

Now in its 9th year, the Yangcheon Book Festival has been offering local residents a time of emotion and healing through books every year since its first event in 2014.

Held under the theme ‘Art Made with Books,’ this year’s festival was filled with cultural and artistic programs that allowed residents to engage on-site, including a variety of book booth programs (32 booths), a meeting with writer Eun Hee-kyung, magic shows, busking performances, and concerts accompanied by films.

Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “Through books, we gain wisdom for life and learn courage and hope to dream of a bigger world,” adding, “I hope that through this book festival filled with the fragrance of books, everyone will fill their hearts with abundant and generous nourishment, as vast as the high autumn sky.”
