[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the morning of Hangul Day, the 9th, the lowest temperature is expected to be between 7 and 16 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperature during the day is expected to be between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius.
In the morning, due to a low-pressure system moving eastward from the Bohai Sea in China, rain is expected to begin falling from the central west coast. The rain will expand during the day to the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungnam, Honam, and Jeju, and will fall nationwide between late afternoon and evening.
The rain is expected to continue until the substitute holiday on the 10th in some regions.
Expected precipitation amounts are 10 to 50 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungnam west coast, and the five West Sea islands; 5 to 30 mm in Gangwon Yeongseo, inland Chungcheong, Honam, and Jeju; and around 5 mm in Gangwon Yeongdong, Yeongnam, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.
From late night on the 9th, cold and dry air will enter from the northwest, causing atmospheric instability, and gusts of wind may occur in areas where rain is falling. Thunder, lightning, and hail in some areas are possible, so precautions should be taken.
Due to swells on the East Coast until the 9th, high waves will push onto sandy beaches or over rocky shores and breakwaters. The Korea Meteorological Administration requests that people avoid going to the coast as much as possible.
Strong winds blowing at speeds of 35 to 70 km/h (10 to 20 m/s) and very high waves of 2 to 4 meters are expected until the 8th in the southern offshore areas of the southern West Sea, the East Sea, the eastern South Sea, and the Jeju Sea. In the offshore area south of Jeju, these conditions will continue until the 9th. Waves on the East Sea may reach heights of over 5 meters at times.
