Winter Gas Leak and Fire Preparedness... Daesung Energy Conducts Emergency Response Drill for District Energy Business

Unannounced Inspections to Raise Awareness Among Related Agencies and Employees

Winter Gas Leak and Fire Preparedness... Daesung Energy Conducts Emergency Response Drill for District Energy Business Daesung Energy conducted an emergency response drill simulating an emergency situation caused by an earthquake at the district-type collective energy plant in the Dasa Jukgok area of Daegu.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] At the Daesung Energy Daegu Dasa Jukgok District Community Energy System (CES) business site, more than 20 people, including officials from the Gangseo Fire Station Maegok 119 Safety Center, participated in an emergency response drill simulating an emergency situation caused by an earthquake.

This drill was conducted unexpectedly to inspect the safety management system for emergency response ahead of the winter season, when energy consumption increases, aiming to strengthen the response system with related organizations and to raise awareness and safety consciousness among executives and employees.

During the drill, a hypothetical situation was declared where a magnitude 5 earthquake caused damage to the gas boiler connection inside the equipment building, resulting in gas leakage and fire. The drill comprehensively checked ▲ the first responder’s ability to report the on-site situation and control the scene ▲ rapid communication of the situation from the control room to related organizations ▲ accurate shutoff of main valves ▲ on-site safety measures and emergency recovery capabilities.

Yoon Hong-sik, CEO of Daesung Energy, said, “We prepared this drill believing that it is necessary to have the capability to respond together with related organizations by assuming situations that may occur at the CES site in the event of an actual earthquake.” He added, “We will continue to make every effort to manage the safety system of the community energy business to provide convenient energy supply to our customers.”
