Linked with the 'Seoul Beauty Months' Event... Discovering Upcycling and Resource Circulation Possibilities in the Fashion and Beauty Industries
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Design Foundation announced that they will hold an upcycling design exhibition themed "Beautiful Zero Waste" to promote resource circulation in daily life from the 11th to the 21st at Seoul City Hall.
The exhibition was planned to raise awareness of upcycling, which adds design to waste resources such as discarded clothing, waste leather, and used banners to transform them into products. About 20 upcycling companies, mainly tenants of the Seoul Upcycling Plaza, participated.
The "Beautiful Zero Waste Upcycling Design Exhibition" is held in connection with the "Seoul Beauty Month" event hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and will be conducted alongside more than 10 events, including "Seoul Fashion Week," throughout October.
On the 15th, Seoul Upcycling Plaza will also hold a side event linked to this exhibition. Seoul Upcycling Plaza is promoting various collaborations, such as developing products using waste resources with companies in the fashion and beauty sectors. In particular, in cooperation with Cosmax, Korea's largest cosmetics manufacturer and developer, an event will be held to create a sculpture using empty cosmetic containers under the theme "The Beauty of Waste Resources Reborn through Upcycling," together with artist Pori, who creates works using waste resources.
Yoo Yeon-sik, Head of the Climate and Environment Headquarters of Seoul, said, "Through the 'Beautiful Zero Waste Design Exhibition,' we aim to provide a new perspective that upcycling and zero waste practices can be implemented in the fashion and beauty sectors," adding, "We will share the seriousness of environmental issues and solutions with citizens and strive to encourage more people to reduce waste."
