Charges of Assault and Violation of Narcotics Control Act
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 40s is under police investigation for assaulting a female acquaintance inside a parked car in Gangnam, Seoul. Suspicious drug substances and syringes were found inside the vehicle.
On the 7th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of assault and violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
Mr. A is suspected of assaulting a female acquaintance inside his parked car in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, at around 2:30 a.m. on the 5th. He is also charged with possession of suspicious drug substances and syringes. Several mobile phones presumed to be burner phones were also found.
The police responded to a report from the assaulted woman and arrested the man at the scene as a suspect caught in the act.
The police have sent the seized substances to the National Forensic Service for detailed analysis.
A police official stated, "We are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident," and added, "We plan to investigate the source of the drugs and whether any consumption occurred."
