Changnyeong County: "The person who reports first and seizes the national funds is the 'owner'"

All-Out Effort to Secure National Funding for Next Year

Changnyeong County: "The person who reports first and seizes the national funds is the 'owner'" Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has launched comprehensive efforts to engage with the National Assembly to secure additional national funding for the next year.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The saying "Whoever sees it first owns it" is driving Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, to go all out in securing national funds for next year.

Changnyeong-gun met with National Assembly member Cho Hae-jin on the 6th to launch an all-out response in the National Assembly to secure additional national funds for key local projects that were not reflected in the 2023 government budget.

The main proposed projects include ▲ Comprehensive maintenance project for flood damage living zones in the Gyesong district ▲ Maintenance project for the aging Nodani water purification plant ▲ Maintenance project for the sewage pipeline in Gilgok Jeungsan ▲ Infrastructure establishment project for the seed (garlic) industry.

Since the beginning of the 8th term of the civilian government, the county has taken the first step toward entering the era of a 1 trillion won budget by sequentially meeting with National Assembly member Cho Hae-jin and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s project-specific reviewers to explain the necessity of major pending projects and has been focusing on securing national funds.

As a result, projects such as ▲ Rural Agreement Contest Project ▲ Rural Space Maintenance Project ▲ Upo Natural Ecological Cultural Park Creation Project have been reflected in next year’s government budget proposal, showing tangible outcomes.

County Governor Kim Bu-young said, “To have major projects widely reflected during the National Assembly’s review stage, it is important to build consensus on the necessity of projects by each standing committee. We will establish a solid cooperative system with National Assembly members to respond thoroughly to the National Assembly’s standing committees and the Budget and Accounts Committee reviews to secure national funds without any gaps.”
