Geochang-gun Completes Construction of Smart Livestock Auction Market

The Largest Scale in Western Gyeongnam and Livestock Auction Activation ... Promoting Increased Farm Income

Geochang-gun Completes Construction of Smart Livestock Auction Market Geochang-gun Smart Livestock Auction Market.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, opened its first smart livestock auction market on the 4th to commemorate the completion of the Smart Livestock Auction Market Construction Project at the Geochang Livestock Cooperative electronic livestock auction market.

This project was promoted as a key initiative by the Geochang Livestock Cooperative to transform the existing livestock market system into a smart auction market, with approximately 450 million KRW invested.

The Geochang Livestock Cooperative electronic auction market boasts the largest scale in western Gyeongnam and has achieved the distinction of becoming the second nationwide smart livestock auction market following Hapcheon-gun.

The smart livestock auction market pursues user-centered convenience by enabling bidding or observation via smartphones or personal PCs, moving away from traditional auction methods. It overcomes the limitations of non-face-to-face auctions by providing detailed information on the livestock through 470 high-definition monitors.

Building on the success of the first smart auction, where a total of six heads were purchased from Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, it is expected that the activation of livestock auctions in Geochang-gun will lead to increased bid prices and thus higher farm incomes.

County Governor Goo In-mo said, “We will do our best together with the Geochang Livestock Cooperative so that livestock farmers, who are struggling with rising feed costs and inflation, can sell their livestock at slightly higher prices.”

Currently, the Geochang Livestock Cooperative smart livestock auction market conducts calf auctions on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, and large cattle auctions on the second and fourth Tuesdays.
