Changwon Mayor Hong Nampyo Continues Swift Actions to Secure National Budget for Next Year Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, met with Choi Sangdae, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to request national funding support for major pending projects for the next year.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, is continuing his swift efforts to secure national funding for next year.

On the 7th, Mayor Hong met with Choi Sang-dae, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, who visited Changwon, to request national funding support for major projects in the coming year.

Starting with the 'Joint Meeting for Securing National Funding' held at the National Assembly in July, Mayor Hong has been actively working to secure national funds, including meetings with members of the Special Budget and Accounts Committee last month. On this day as well, he emphasized the necessity of key projects based on future industries and requested national funding support at the Ministry of Economy and Finance level during his meeting with the 2nd Vice Minister.

The major projects proposed for next year include three items: ▲ Manufacturing of medical and bio diagnostic devices based on AI and big data ▲ Construction of Changwon BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system ▲ Establishment of next-generation advanced complex beam irradiation facilities.

The 'Manufacturing of medical and bio diagnostic devices based on AI and big data' project aims to secure future new growth engines by applying Changwon's excellent precision manufacturing capabilities, combined with AI and big data technologies, to the production of medical and bio diagnostic devices that require precision processing.

Additionally, the city plans to begin construction next year on the first phase of the Wonidae-ro S-BRT, a high-end BRT pilot project, and also initiate detailed design work for the 3·15-daero BRT.

The 'Next-generation advanced complex beam irradiation facility establishment' project is the first in Korea to build various accelerators such as electron beams and ion beams tailored to industry needs. The city plans to start a feasibility study next year for the next-generation advanced complex beam irradiation facility necessary for fostering advanced science and technology and future industries.

The city intends to concentrate maximum administrative efforts to secure national funding for each major project until the government budget for next year is finalized.
