[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongmyung University’s Department of Pet Grooming and Behavior Correction signed an agreement on the 28th with Wonkwang University’s Department of Companion Animal Industry and the Korean Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy Association.

The agreement includes cooperation to foster professional personnel in the companion animal field and to promote the development of related industries.

The Department of Pet Grooming and Behavior Correction at Dongmyung University is also pursuing agreements with Korea Pet High School, the Busan Yeongnam Headquarters of the Korea Companion Animal Management Association, and Pet Loss Care.

Following the establishment of a university animal hospital on campus, Dongmyung University newly established the nation’s first “college” dedicated to companion animals, comprising the Department of Companion Animal Health, the Department of Pet Grooming and Behavior Correction, and the Department of Nutritional Science.

The Department of Companion Animal Health trains animal health technicians, companion animal rehabilitation specialists, and animal hospital coordinators.

The Department of Pet Grooming and Behavior Correction is introducing new curricula such as “Positive Reinforcement Training” and “Scientific Positive Behavior Training” to become the first four-year program nationwide specializing in pet grooming and behavior correction experts.

The Department of Nutritional Science differentiates itself from existing food and nutrition departments by specializing not only in human food nutrition but also in feed development and companion animal nutrition, which constitute the majority of the companion animal industry.
