[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Telecom companies held online and offline events on the 7th to celebrate the official launch of the iPhone 14. To attract MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) customers, they held events at locations such as the Hongdae branch and a complex cultural space, creating an engaging atmosphere.
KT announced that on the morning of the 7th, it held the first iPhone 14 activation event at the premium telecom store ‘Hongdae Add Shop Plus’ near Hongdae Entrance Station in Seoul.
KT conducted an event for customers who pre-ordered the iPhone 14 through its official online mall, KT Shop. The first activation customer will receive a one-year benefit of KT’s top-tier plan, the 5G Choice Premium plan (130,000 KRW per month), along with iPhone accessories such as MagSafe as gifts.
Yu Ho-young, a customer from Dongjak-gu, Seoul, who was invited as the first activation customer, said, “I have a deep connection with KT as I have used KT iPhones for years since college,” and added, “I am very pleased to be invited to this special activation event held at the Hongdae store, a hotspot for young people.”

LG Uplus is running an iPhone 14-related pop-up at its complex cultural space ‘Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum (hereafter Teum)’ until the 30th. Visitors to Teum can rent and experience the iPhone 14 on the first floor and participate in a survey, after which they can take free photos at the photo booth ‘Sihyeonhada Frame’ set up on the first floor. Among customers who complete the experience and survey, Apple Watch Ultra will be given away by lottery.
During the same period, the Teum application (app) is also hosting the ‘iPhone TMI’ event, where participants can receive picnic sets including the Apple Watch Ultra, and the ‘Teummanamyeon Chwihyang Deuktem’ event, where participants can win campus sets consisting of Apple Watch Series 8, AirPods Pro 2nd generation, mouse & mouse pad, tumbler, and backpack.
LG Uplus will hold the ‘MBT_i Event’ from the 14th to November 9th, where participants create and share wallpapers matching their MBTI on social media, and outstanding works will be selected. On the official online store ‘Uplus.com,’ customers who purchase an Apple Watch along with the iPhone 14 by the end of this month will receive an Apple Watch ‘Nike Sports Band,’ along with either a ‘Starbucks Tumbler’ or a charging stand as gifts.
Moreover, LG Uplus has launched the ‘LG U+ Smart Plan Plus Card Kim Tokki Edition’ for online customers. During October, customers who purchase the iPhone 14 on installment with the affiliated card and set up automatic payment for their telecom bill can receive up to 65,000 KRW per month for two months, totaling 130,000 KRW in telecom fee discounts, along with additional telecom fee benefits based on usage.
