Lotte Construction announced on the 7th that it has won the bid for the 'Philippine South Urban Railway Section 7' commissioned by the Philippine Department of Transportation and held a contract signing ceremony on the 6th attended by key figures including Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The Philippine South Urban Railway is a project to construct a total 56 km railway connecting Calamba in the south through the heart of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, expected to alleviate urban traffic congestion and improve interregional mobility.
Lotte Construction won Section 7, worth approximately 420 billion KRW, out of a total of 9 sections, and plans to carry out large-scale railway construction including the operation control center for about 60 months.
As the project lead, Lotte Construction will oversee the construction in cooperation with Turkish and local contractors.
Lotte Construction also plans to actively participate in large-scale infrastructure developments promoted by the newly launched Philippine government this year.
A Lotte Construction official stated, "Based on achievements in Southeast Asian infrastructure projects, we plan to actively expand our business areas such as renewable energy and land infrastructure in infrastructure markets in Australia and Europe in the future."
