[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] A neighborhood living facility with 38 floors above ground will be built in Hapjeong 7 District, supplying 210 apartment units and 110 officetel rooms. A comprehensive social welfare center with 8 floors above ground will also be constructed, improving the welfare conditions for local residents.

On the 7th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the '3rd Urban Redevelopment Subcommittee' the previous day and approved the revised maintenance plan for Hapjeong 7 District in the Hapjeong Redevelopment Promotion Zone, located at 381-49 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu. The area of Hapjeong 7 District is 2,887㎡.

This plan includes a mixed-use residential and commercial building with a total floor area of 5,895㎡ and 38 floors above ground, as well as a comprehensive social welfare center with a total floor area of 5,028㎡ and 8 floors above ground. According to the plan, 210 residential units (including 37 public rental units), 110 officetel rooms, and neighborhood living facilities will be included in the mixed-use building.

Commercial facilities will be concentrated on the lower floors (1st to 3rd floors) along Yanghwa-ro to activate the street. A 10-meter-wide pedestrian space will be provided by planning a front open space within the site along the sidewalk.

In addition to the mixed-use building, a separate comprehensive social welfare center will be constructed. The welfare center will have 3 basement floors and 8 floors above ground, featuring facilities for children and youth such as an experiential learning center, indoor playground, classrooms, and a book cafe, as well as spaces for local welfare projects. The welfare center is located within 100 meters of Hapjeong Station on Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 6, and is a 10-minute walk from Mangwon Hangang Park, offering excellent accessibility via public transportation.

Yoo Chang-soo, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, "With this decision, not only will housing supply be secured within the station area of Hapjeong Station, but living and cultural facilities will also be established, greatly improving welfare conditions for residents. We will continue to strive to secure facilities that improve welfare and cultural conditions for the community as well as residents during redevelopment projects."
