On the 7th, CJ CheilJedang announced that Hwang Yoon-il, head of the Bio Business Division, and Jin Jae-seung, CEO of Yuhan-Kimberly, attended and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to participate in the 'Green Action Alliance.' The Green Action Alliance is a cooperative body among companies leading innovation in eco-friendly materials and products to develop sustainable materials and accelerate the transition to a circular economy, launched and operated by Yuhan-Kimberly.
Through this agreement, the two companies will ▲ recognize the importance of developing sustainable materials and applying them to products ▲ mutually strive to achieve sustainability goals through technological innovation ▲ actively participate in productization using sustainable materials and expand the market ▲ strengthen cooperation for climate change response and ESG (environment, social, governance) management by developing and supplying products using eco-friendly biodegradable material PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates). In particular, they plan to promote the development of consumer-close products such as diapers, wet wipes, masks, and packaging materials using eco-friendly biodegradable material PHA.
This collaboration between the two companies is expected to serve as an opportunity to expand sustainable products that combine environmental performance and innovation based on eco-friendly raw materials. Yuhan-Kimberly has set an ESG management goal to achieve more than 95% of sales through sustainable products by 2030.
Hwang Yoon-il, head of CJ CheilJedang's Bio Business Division, said, "We plan to expand the use of eco-friendly biodegradable materials that replace petroleum-based plastics, and single-use products in daily life will be the starting point." He added, "We will continue to cooperate with various companies pursuing sustainability."
